In this article, we will delve into some of the most notable engineering and STEM-related tragedies that have occurred throughout history. 1. **Challenger Space Shuttle Disaster (1986)** One of the most well-known tragedies in space exploration history is the Challenger disaster. On January 28, 1986, the space shuttle Challenger broke apart just 73 seconds after liftoff, resulting in the deaths of all seven crew members onboard, including schoolteacher Christa McAuliffe.
